Connoisseur’s Guide to California Wine (Dec. 2018)
Starting out with a moderately intense and very specific Cabernet nose of blackcurrants, cola and graphite with a nice dollop of vanilla oak, this solidly built, full-bodied effort is still on the taut and tight side of things. Once in the mouth and its well-defined flavors are buttressed by a good deal of youthful varietal tannins, and, for all of its immediate aromatic appeal, it is very much a wine that warrants some time in the cellar. Five or six years would seem a minimum wait here, and it has the depth and essential stunning to ensure that optimism in its future will not be misplaced.
